Hello Spring!

We've had some peculiar weather around here lately... so much for Spring.

Brunch

This weekend I went to brunch at my friend Simone's adorable new home. Her style is inspiring. I loved all the fresh flowers and wonderful use of color. I think she could give some of those homes on DesignSponge a run for their money.

I love this photo... the best things in life aren't things. I couldn't agree more. How cute is her kitchen!And our beautiful hostess...

I've wanted to visit the Anza-Borrego Desert for a while to see the wildflowers in bloom. I finally made it to the desert with a local photography group and I had a blast. It was interesting to see such distinctive contrasts like blooming wildflowers in the middle of brush and sand. And in such heat!Some desert art just for good measure...
I'd like to go back eventually, but for now #59 is done!

Today I sold not one, but TWO prints to someone I did not previously know. A very kind Etsy user bought 5X7 prints of Hula and Checkered Flags. You know what this means... #15 is done!

I have so many shots of this beautiful museum, I just have to share more.

If you've never been there, I recommend making the trip and checking it out. It's quite a sight.

Getty and #54!

On Saturday I had the opportunity to catch a field trip up to the Getty and go shooting with some photo buddies. I've never been to the museum, and I jumped at the chance.

In other news, I've fallen off the bandwagon a bit lately on my 101 in 1001 goals. I didn't read a book for the month of February, so I have to start all over on my one book a month for a year goal, PLUS, I clearly didn't make it very far with goal #70. February was a tough month... but I will start both goals over and I will make them happen! On the plus side, by seeing the Getty I managed half of #54.

#70 and the Trevor Challege

That's right... I'm tackling #70 on my list. I'm trying to take one photo every day and post it to my blog. My friend Trevor has challenged me to try to make it all the way through Lent. We'll see how I do, but you know I love a challenge. This shot is different for me, or at least different from my usual fare. Consider it an experiment in color, light, and motion all at once. The fence was unfortunately unavoidable, but I tried to use it to add to the raw, gritty feel of the image. What I like most about this shot is that it surprised me. There are things in this shot that I couldn't see in the dark, but, given enough time, my camera could. This brought a whole new perspective to the shot, and I ran with it.

One down, at least 29 more to go!
