#70 and the Trevor Challege

That's right... I'm tackling #70 on my list. I'm trying to take one photo every day and post it to my blog. My friend Trevor has challenged me to try to make it all the way through Lent. We'll see how I do, but you know I love a challenge. This shot is different for me, or at least different from my usual fare. Consider it an experiment in color, light, and motion all at once. The fence was unfortunately unavoidable, but I tried to use it to add to the raw, gritty feel of the image. What I like most about this shot is that it surprised me. There are things in this shot that I couldn't see in the dark, but, given enough time, my camera could. This brought a whole new perspective to the shot, and I ran with it.

Not too long ago I had the opportunity to do a studio shoot with the lovely Mary Deaton. We had plenty of fun over our hour plus together, and Mary was phenomenal.

My absolute favorite...Thanks Mary for a great shoot!

Beam Me Up Scottie!

I have always loved the Geisel Library...it's fascinating to me, and it certainly doesn't look like a library. The building itself has starred in several films, including Mission Impossible II, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, and as the spaceship in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I remember when I was in college I would visit my friends at their schools, and after seeing their campus libraries I would tease them relentlessly because my library was that much cooler. Of course they would fire back that my school had no football team, so I guess we were even.

Rain Rain Go Away...

In light of the very wet, wintery weather we've been having, I thought I'd post something from a dryer night in downtown San Diego.
I know we need the rain... it just makes photographing outdoors a little tricky. Happy Tuesday everbody!
