#25

The last time my family got all dolled up for a portrait, my Mom was pregnant with my youngest sister. Three days ago, Chele turned 17. Today we remedied that little problem and took some Poteet family portraits.

We'll start with a few fun ones.

This was after we had the shot, we we're trying for serious faces. I think it's hilarious, and I love the shadows behind us.
I tickled Sam and she decided to get even! And now for the Poteet family photo, coming soon to a mailbox near you...
I think we're going to have to make this an annual practice, especially since it turned out so well.

#25 is done!

Poinsettia Bowl

Andy and I were given tickets to this year's Poinsettia Bowl and just had to take advantage of them. We left work and made it to Qualcomm Stadium early to enjoy the tailgate party before heading inside for the game.

I give you the TCU band at the tailgate party, and the sea of blue and orange inside the stadium after kick-off.
Qualcomm before it filled with people. Did I mention we went inside early?
We were surprised by the disproportionate amount of Boise State fans to those from TCU, but everyone seated around us was pleasant and we enjoyed the game. I'd never been to a college football game, let alone one this big, and I loved all the chants and cheers that came from the crowd as naturally as if they were breathing. All and all it was something different, and it turned out to be a fun little evening together.

P.S. - Nicole, this one's for you!

#72

This weekend I'm participating in the Breast Cancer 3-Day and will try my best to walk 60 miles over three days in support of the fight against breast cancer. Each participant is required to raise $2,200, but I set myself a personal fundraising goal of $3,000.

It's taken a lot of time and work... but after a letter writing and email campaign, and with the help of my love, my family, my friends, co-workers, and my boss, I finally made it.

Today, less than 48 hours before the walk begins, I have fundraised $3,228! I want to thank every one who donated, and who helped me gather donations. You all are amazing.P.S. - Thanks to you all, #72 is done!

Barbie and Richard

I spent Sunday having lots of fun with Barbie and Richard. Barbie and I have been friends for years, and it was my pleasure to photograph the happy couple. I think they both did some modeling back in England that they just neglected to mention...Last but not least!

# 49

I found out about Etsy through another photography blog, and it sounded so interesting that I just had to take a look. Etsy is an online community where individuals sell their handmade items, everything from stationary to stuffed bears. Creativity abounds, and I think its safe to say I am in love.

I found this tote bag that is a perfect gift for a friend of mine. Of course, leave it to me to give it away before I take pictures. Images courtesy of the seller.

And that means, #49 is done!

# 22 - In Progress

Stefanie Poteet Photography is expanding it's tool kit, and I just purchased my first flash attachment, the Canon Speedlite 430EX. I can't wait until it arrives in the mail.

#22 is in progress!

November 24, 2008 Update:

I had previously enrolled in a Portraiture class that would assist me in learning on camera flash, but had to drop it because of camera problems that required me to send my Canon 30D body out for repair. As of today, I have enrolled in a lighting class for the Winter 2009 semester, which will help me even further in my quest to understand on camera flash, as well as off camera lighting... otherwise known as goal #21. So I'm taking care of two goals at once. Can you say excited?

I've been looking to get a Shootsac for a little while because my Canon bag, while great for traveling, hauling, and packing, is not functional when shooting. The Shootsac is my solution, and I just ordered it today.

#45 is done!

August 1, 2008 Update:

My Shootsac arrived, and the box is so pretty I just have to share. I haven't even opened it yet!

Port's Game

Caught a Stockton Port's game with my family this weekend. It was fun, much different than sitting in a stadium with 40,000 people. And the score... not even close. I've never seen that much offense in a nine inning game.Splash, their mascot, is one of my favorites.

# 89

I can't tell you how many times I've driven past Angel Stadium, seen the giant red "A" from the freeway, and told myself that I need to catch an Angels game. With my wonderful Mother in town for Fourth of July Weekend, and the San Diego Padres on the road, I got my chance. They weren't kidding when they said you can't stack filters with this lens... but I'm loving the faux fisheye effect the filter edges created. The Angels lost, but I got to see my game. #89 is done!

# 44

I've always had problems finding a perfume I like. I walk into Sephora and want to bottle the smell of the entire store, but can never find a scent that tickles my fancy. I've tried on several occasions, and eventually leave frustrated with way too many wooden sticks sprayed with perfume stuck in my purse.

The frustration is over. Thank you Bath and Body Works for your wonderful and inexpensive Sensual Amber Eau de Toilette.

And #44 is done!

# 6

Last year for Andy's birthday I took him to Cooperstown for Tony Gwynn's induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. To tell him about the trip, I created a story book showing the plans for our week in New York. I knew he thought it was cute, but I didn't know how cute.

A few months before I created my 101 list, Andy asked if I was ever going to finish his book. I was utterly confused because I thought it was finished. He told me he wanted me to update the book with pictures from our actual trip, and I thought it was a perfect idea. For his birthday this year, I decided that was exactly what I was going to do.

After several hours of covert scrapbooking, I gave Andy his more voluminous birthday story as part of his gift, but I was still missing one picture. I just pasted it in today and the book is complete.

The book is something to be kept forever, and #6 is done!

Del Mar Nationals

The weather in Del Mar was perfect. The show was crowded. The cars, unfortunately, were mostly for sale. Such a shame. But for sale or not, they were still beautiful.

San Diego Wild Animal Park

My sisters and I visited the San Diego Wild Animal Park earlier today and took a Photo Caravan Tour into the African exhibit. We entered the exhibit in a large truck and got to feed a giraffe! It was such an amazing experience, and it's certainly something I'd love to do again. One of the other trucks on our tour... they're surrounded! These giraffes are well trained and they know exactly what's going on. It's called snack time. For the first few minutes the other giraffes didn't seem to notice that we were there, but one of the adult females saw us and made her way over. She had us, and our entire bucket of leaves, all to herself. That's one smart giraffe.
